Lessons Learned from a Lifetime in the Business (Friday Afternoon)
Frank Finger, Finger's Radiator Hospital

Retired in a kind of way (still spends summers in the shop), Frank Finger of Finger’s Radiator Hospital in North Brunswick, NJ, shares his story that covers 75 years in the business. He began his journey like many other NARSA members as a child of five who was raised right next door to his father’s business. After completing high school, Frank joined his father at the bench. Over the course of his career, Frank saw in the dawning of the complete replacement radiator in the automotive aftermarket, and the evolution of the channels of distribution in the entire automotive aftermarket that transformed what was essentially a repair and rebuilding business into another replacement part.

Through the years he built a radiator business that thrived with more than 300 employees, manufacturing operations and 35 warehouses. He sold most of that but still keeps his hand in the original repair business. Frank shares his story and his insights into a business community and the people that he has met on the way that he gratefully acknowledges helped him to attain the American Dream.

Jim Butitta, former owner of Butitta Brothers

Jim Butitta, former owner of Butitta Brothers headquartered in Rockford, IL. The business was a multiple location radiator, general auto service and repair business that has its roots in the radiator and a/c parts and service business. Jim was born into the business and he grew it before retiring. He is a former NARSA president and chairman and holds the association and its members with high regard. He said the association had been a key element of his success. In his talk, he will address some common denominator issues in small and family owned businesses.

He will address time management and goal setting; responsibilities of ownership; and communicating the why. Jim is currently a practicing business consultant and has recently begun a relationship with Elite, a firm that provides coaching and training for automotive business owners and managers.
